Saturday's card was an
open card. (they left out the Division info in the race titles)
Slug City led early in the opening 430m open race, but ran
wide throughout and forfeited valuable ground.
Swhimasdylan took it up on the run in, but hung on by half a
length as he was distracted on the run in.
Milldean Flash stumbled at the start and was crowded at the 2nd
bend and was beaten ca 3/4 a length in third.
Westminsterpearl set the early pace in the 640m hurdles open.
However, after leading to the 5th bend, she was headed by
Charlie Two Jags.
Westminsterpearl came back for more, but she had a dwell up on
the run in.
Broadacres Dan looked to be beaten and was an extremely
fortunate winner, leading on the run in.
Silbury Squirrel was sent off a generous looking 4/5 in the
marathon open and led from the start. She was never challenged and
won by 7 lengths.
Shes Our Secret was always second, but was one paced on the run
in.
Molly Alice set a decent early gallop in the 640m open, but
failed to get home and faded from between the last two bends.
Rough Quest started very slowly and ran on and led from the last
bend.
Geordie Shay was not fluent at a few bends, but kept on for
second.
After a modest start,
Droopys Mumba paced up well to lead in the first 475m open. She
was probably tired as she ran wide at the last bend and was caught
near the line.
Flying Jack ran on and led on the run in. This was his first win
from 4 starts at the Stow. He won two races from 5 in Ireland
previously, form equating to A2 on my system.
Barnfield Teddy showed early pace, but didn't negotiate the 2nd
bend well and faded on the run in.
Snappy Girl made all in the next marathon open.
Romford Carthree was 2nd until throwing the towel in from the
7th bend.
Alexanders Pride checked at the bends and still managed to
finish 2nd.
In the next 475m open,
Cobra Striking was sent off 7/2, following a dodgy effort on his
previous run, returning from a layoff. He showed his early pace, but
was far from fluent at the bends and understandably did not get
competitive.
Milldean Buster was sent off at 11/10 and after a modest start,
he paced up well and led from the second bend.
Kindred Sparky ran wide at the last bend, but kept on for
second.
Milldean Buster's record is an impressive 10/18 at the Stow.
Seanis
Strike made all to land the next 475m open. He didn't negotiate
the 2nd bend well and can progress from here. He has a decent time
at Youghal on his card. Noirs
Denis ran a decent race in second.
Mustang
Garcia ran a fine second on his last visit when finishing second
to Westmead Tina. He was a decent trap to line winner in a decent
28.49. Secretariat
put a question mark against the form when finishing 2 1/2 lengths
second.
Conker
All made all in the next 4 bend open. His stride shortened on
the run in and he held on desperately from Island
View in a bunch finish. Centaur
Decree was a bit slow at the bends and finished 3rd.
Spiridon
Louis ran out an easy winner of the Essex records sponsored
marathon final. He didn't look 100% sound after a busy campaign. Droopys
Kan Kan towed him along to the 6th bend and held 2nd, despite
not seeing out the trip strongly.
Legal
Major made all in the 475m open. He was not fluent at the 3rd
bend, but ran out a decent winner. The veteran Perceptive
Pacey, ran his usual game game race in second. His owners are
very fortunate to have owned such a genuine Greyhound.
Rough
Rose was sent off a short price in the last 6 bend open. He was
towed along first by Daphs
Girl, and then by Cruising
Katie. Rough
Rose hit the front at the last bend and pulled clear.
