Saturday's card was the Walthamstow retired
Greyhound night and was an average graded card. The race sponsors
donated a really impressive 13K towards tonight's total.
Steves
Spice was sent off very short in the opening A9, despite showing
little early pace in her recent runs. THEY knew and she handed out a
real beating to her rivals, winning by 12 1/2 lengths. I did not
hear a stewards called, so perhaps they were on? Imperial
Singer started ok and plodded on for a long second.
.The
H1 was another shocking hurdles event. Westgate
Flash led early, but is not the most genuine and succumbed to
the slow motion finish of Stemart
Bobby. Winkys
Don started well enough, but didn't get on with the job and then
made a mistake at the second hurdle.
Largo
Lassie was a decent winner of the A6. She broke well and made
all. Fionntra
Lisa stayed on for second.
Clonbrin
Reels paced up well after a modest start and led up in the A5.
However, he lost the plot at the second bend and ran off & lost
all momentum. Lockdale
Prince was left in front, but was one pace on the run in and was
collared by the strong finishing Charity.
Centaur
Cappo made all in the S1. Eye
Onthe Jewel kept on and went down by 3/4 of a length. Mitzie
was crowded at the first and ran disappointingly. There was some
classic commentary from the Stow's Colin Hoyes. As they passed
Charlie Chans, he said "and Charlie Chans is gone!" He
also called Eye
Onthe Jewel "closing late doors" on the run in. He's a
great commentator and a very nice bloke too.
Blackey
Said So started fast and led up in the A5. Westminster
Taj stayed on and took it up on the run in as Kingfisher
Daisy refused when holding every chance. Westminster
Taj was returning from a spell of lameness and was sent off a
large looking 7/1 shot here.
Bodell
Mistress was dropped in class in the A4 after competing in the
maiden Derby final at the Stow recently. She started smartly and
made all. Journey
Time ran a fair race in second after being crowded on the run
up.
Double
Top was another dropped in class in the S1. Although he is a
rogue at times, he put his best foot forward tonight and was a
comfortable winner. Sofem
led him for a few bends, but was readily outpaced, but still managed
second, as Double
Top came back a bit on the run in.
Josim
Darkie started well and made all in the A3 for his 9th win from
39 starts. Milldean
Tyco stayed on late to finish a remote second. All
Clued Up missed the break and was crowded out of it at the first
bend.
Snoozys
Palace started best in the A2, but tied up after being headed at
the third bend. Clonbrin
Ted took it up at this point and won from Lockdale
Duke, who plugged on for second.
Mystical
Haka produced a flying start and made all in the A1. Ronaldos
Merit plugged on for second. The winning time was a decent
28.71. This was his 11th win from 22 W'stow starts. He is not the
soundest of dogs, so this is a particularly impressive winning
record.
Wise
Digger made all in the S2 finale, hanging on by a desperate
short head. Mystical
Class lost out in the photo. Dubai
Adventure was sadly KO'd at the first and True
Frankie eased at the 5th bend and ran a disappointing race.
