Ongar Dolly made the early running in the opening A9, but could
not sustain the gallop and was one paced, after being headed at the
last bend.
Drifting Light turned 2nd, but was swamped for pace at the 3rd
and faded to the rear. This left the way clear for the favvy,
Wheres Lily to run on and lead from the 4th bend.
The hurdles H1
was a shocking race.
Westgate Flash led down to he 3rd and folded a bit tamely.
Dannys Do Do stopped as if shot when 2nd down the back straight.
Castleivy Sand was crowded on the run up, but plugged on and led
on the run in.
The S3 race looked like the S6 &
S7's of old. In fact that's just what it was.
Short Circuit started well and led until fading on the run in.
Droopys Jackay was slow away, ran on and led on the run in, even
having time for a dwell up.
Silk Tie made all in the A8, returning from a 114 day break.
Cachem Platty was bizarrely graded into A8, having run in an A1
at Yarmouth recently. There was no money for it and he never took
part.
Tapleybrig Maisy showed some pace on the back straight after a
slow start and kept on for second.
Saintys Flyer was having his 100th and final race tonight in the
A6 and his owner generously sponsored the race. Now, I don't think
the RM is doing things right, with respect to grading these races.
In my view, these generous servants who make a 100th race, should be
given every opportunity of
winning. I suggest - a massive downgrade, a plot draw, snails drawn
alongside, and the most exposed bunch of opponents with poor strike
rates you could put in the race. I think the RM should be bending
over backwards to give these dogs a massive chance to go out on a
winning note. What did
Saintys Flyer face here? Unexposed dogs largely, the last type
of opponents he should be facing.
Saintys Flyer showed his early pace, but the old legs were never
going to see him home against these opponents. He was swamped at the
3rd bend and
Cruising Katie led from the 3rd bend.
Hallam Tor was crowded at the 3rd bend and kept on for second.
Wheres The Girls led round in the S1, but whilst looking a bit
vulnerable in front, dwelt at the 5th bend (not for the 1st time)
and threw the race away. The outsider,
Poachertink came through quite strongly and led from the 5th
bend.
True To Rachel started best in the A5, but slowed running into
the bend and was headed.
Roswell Zodiac drove the bend well and led from the 2nd bend.
Clonbrin Reels followed him home in second and ran a bit green.
He should do ok.
Allglaze Cruise started best and led round in the first heat of
the Breeders Forum British Bred stakes. Once passed at the 3rd, he
faded on the run in.
Buckland Wally headed him at the 3rd bend and led until near the
line.
Classy Star came home well and caught him. This was her 7th win
from 23 W'stow starts.
In the second heat of the Breeders Forum British Bred stakes,
Addington Ruby looked thrown in, as she had seemingly been
doubly downgraded. She led early, but was headed at the second bend
by
Green Jeanie.
Addington Ruby took it up off the last bend and won by half a
length.
The M2 looked a match beforehand and that's just how it turned
out.
Silbury Squirrel made all and reversed previous form with
Swift Leon. It was a slow motion finish and the margin was a
length.
