Carden Signal landed a gamble in the opener, an A9. Backed from
6/1 to 3/1, he was quick away and made all for a seven length
victory.
Leading Chief was slow away, showed some pace to the first bend,
swung wide off the last and plugged on for a remote second. The
local stewards were similarly impressed and fancied a meeting with
some of those nice sandwiches, I'll post the result of their inquiry
now.
MW "He was green in his trials and lost
several lengths when bumped in one of two of them"
Steward " We have decided to accept MW's explanation. Now, can you
pass one of those nice sandwiches, please?"
Quotes
from the ring
Dougie "Never again, that's the last
time, 13, 14, 15, 16, that's 1700"
Gerry " I'm a
genius, I don't get any help from anyone"
Redec Liz led up in the A8, but was outpaced by
Smooth Cantona, who led off the second bend. They had it between
them, with
Smooth Cantona winning by a neck for his first win from 5
attempts at the track.
Chase The Dream ran out a decent winner of the hurdles H2.
Quickly into his stride, he routed he field by 7 3/4 lengths. He
recorded 29.48, perhaps giving Mr Wallis a bit of ammo for the tea
party, I mean Stewards enquiry. There was lots of poor jumping in
behind and
Omeugo Mison plodded on for second.
The S4 contest was another shocker. When
Barowhall Buster is sent off 6/4 jolly, there must be some real
Afghans on show!
Barowhall Buster hit the front too early and wasn't too keen on
staying there.
Dolores Again ran on and led from the 5th bend, for a debut win.
Chris Cronin's bitch has some moderate Sittingbourne form on her
card and may find things harder from now on.
Hows
Trix ran to the middle from trap five and was crowded on the run
up on his debut in the A5. Despite this, he paced up well and led
round. As a result, Scorpio
Branch got a very clear run and turned close behind. Scorpio
Branch took over at half way and went on to score. Hows
Trix went down by 2 1/2 lengths, showing plenty of promise on
his debut. He has a fair Youghal run on his card and he should do
ok.
Tilly
was sent off a short priced favvy in the A5 after showing some
promise last week. He showed plenty of pace on the straights, but
again did not run the bends fluently. The competition was modest and
he got away with it here, leading on the run in. Hoylake
Claire ran middle (from T2) and led until running out of gas on
the run in. She had returned from a very short seasonal break. Liscahane
Kia kept on for second.
In
the S1, Irate
Kate came off the rails and put paid to the chances of herself
and Fabregas
at the first bend. (Fabregas
had broke poorly). Wheres
The Girls swung round in front, with Coolanga
Flyer turning close behind. Coolanga
Flyer challenged at the 5th and finally consented to go by near
the line for a short head victory.
In the A3, Journey
North was inclined to move to the middle (from T5) and was
impeded somewhat on the run to the turn. Stride
On Babe swung round in front and led until fading near the line.
Ardagh
Mike ran on and got up by half a length from Journey
North.
Desert Cara was a non runner, resulting
in a five runner race in the A2. Pennys
Viva broke well and led round, but was gunned down close home by
the staying on Vigorous
Whitney, in a decent 28.79.
