Tuesday's card featured the first round of the
Silver Collar, with some modest graded races.
The
evening opened with a moderate A9. Alders
Harry broke averagely, showed some pace to the first and led
until fading on the run in. Verena
(prev 3/35) kept on after a modest start and led on the run in.
Prodigal
Fire led in the second A9, but eased at the 2nd bend and handed
the lead to Datewithdestiny,
who moved off on the run to the turn and got a clear run on the
rails. Prodigal
Fire came back for more and went down by a short
head.
The 3rd race (A9), saw a trap to
line victor in Clodiagh
Heather. Chadwell
Scholes was clumsy between the last two bends when holding every
chance and faded on the run in.
Ringview
Rascal made all in the A8, showing some nice early foot. He held
on desperately however, as the pack closed. Control
The Bill headed the closing pack and grabbed second from the
bunch.
In the first Silver Collar heat, there was
an upset. Classy
Star was sent off a very short looking 4/6F, in what looked to
be a weakly contested race. While he stayed on late, he could never
quite get on terms with White
Bomber. Tuftys
Pearletta cut out the early running and led until the 5th bend. White
Bomber took it up at the 5th bend and held off Classy
Star, who held every chance. White
Bomber had shown some decent form at Harlow, but had previously
failed to act at too many other tracks.
Ragga
Diva caused chaos in the A7. From a trap 3 draw, he headed for
the hideaway bar and impeded Deans
Lu and Silk
Tie significantly, and Graiguenoe
Slim to a lesser extent. Annandale
Dixie got a clear run and led at half way. Deans
Lu stayed on after getting hammered at the start to finish
second.
Shelbourne
Laura missed the break in the second Silver Collar heat and it
momentarily looked set up for BBC (Big
Brett Coal). However, Shelbourne
Laura flew up to the corner and smashed into BBC and put paid to
both their chances. (Bonanza for the layers) Discreet
Cat broke well and was left clear after the early bother in
behind. He stretched clear and was a comfortable winner from Mitzie,
who stayed on from well off the pace for second.
Green
Jeanie led briefly in the second A7, but was outpaced by Blue
Screamer, who made all from the first. Green
Jeanie ran wide at the first and checked off 3-4, then faded on
the run in. Beat
Them King broke slowly, showed some pace to the first and kept
on for second.
Drimeen
Rumble made all in the third Silver Collar heat. He's a bit in
and out, but is pretty smart on the bunny. Fear
Robben was slow away, crowded at the first and checked at the
5th and faded. Westminster
Taj stayed on for second.
The A5 saw the lead
change hands a number of times. Shell
Harbour broke fastest and led until running off at the second
bend. Ortuna
got clear run after a modest start and led at the second. Rough
Venus started slower and also got a clear run. He took over at
the 3rd bend. The final challenger was Pinehurst
Silk, who stayed on to lead near the line.
Lockwood
Littljo showed smart early pace in the A2 and railed well at the
first two bends. Predictably, he checked up at the 3rd bend and
faded badly. Vigorous
Whitney turned handy and led at the 3rd bend and pulled right
way to win in a decent 28.75. King
Forever stayed on for second.
Only five went to
post in the A1, following the withdrawal of Armies Plan. This
normally gives the staying sorts a better chance. War
Of Attrition started well behind Special
Trip and swept round the first two bends to lead off the second.
He went on to score and won his third A1. He is a consistent sort. Kilgraney
Agassi was not completely fluent at the bends and also suffered crowding
on a few occasions.
The evening ended with the usual
dreadful staying race. Marked
Away and Rumour
Has It had a good early paced battle up to the winning line
first time. Marked
Away won the battle and went on to score. Off
Course stayed on for second.
