Saturday's card was a modest graded affair.
Despite it being Derby final night, a fair crowd (of largely six
packers) turned up. Mr O'Gorman did get a little of fed up of being
asked if he would take a 50p reverse forecast a number of times, after a couple of
races.
In the opening A8, Bright
Star led off the second bend and made all. Sportsbar
Mandi kept on for second.
Directors
Time was fancied last week, but disappointed. Hillcross
Tempo broke best in a field of slow starters in this P7, but
came together with Tadgells
Ollie and this put paid to their chances. Directors
Time got a clear run and led off the second and went on to
score. Girl
Next Door also got a clear run and stayed on for second. Jeremy
swung round with every chance and had a dwell up on the run in and
faded.
Craigdales
Ruby was sent of a short price in the S3 and cracked out and
made all. Expert
Plan showed some early pace after a modest start, but could not
get on terms and was one pace from between the last two bends.
The
A7 was Mabill
Mick's 100th and final race. He broke well enough but didn't
sustain the gallop from the 3rd bend. Silverthorn
Ash was hard to fancy here, after some modest runs on the Bags.
However, he broke smartly and made all, for his 10th victory at the
track from 57 attempts. Schwarzer
plugged on for second. Genesis
Sister ran a shocker and was not at the races.
Shrewd
Move broke well in the A6, but moved off at half way and faded
very tamely. Fitzie
took over briefly, until the favourite Many
Memories swept by and led from the 3rd bend.
Droopys
Duffy made all in the A5 and was a narrow victor from Lemon
Figo. Lemon
Figo was slow away and showed some early pace and kept on for
second. Droopys
Duffy has some decent Irish form and hasn't matched that level
of form yet, despite winning 5 of his 20 starts.
Leaha
Chuita made all in the S3. Pennys
Lindsay broke well, ran wide at the 2nd bend and ran a poor
race. Shan
Rica faded on the run in. Cutie
Pie stayed on late to grab second.
Call
Again started fast in the A4, but after briefly heading Sparta
Master on the run to the bend, was beaten by that rival for
early pace. Call
Again came back for more and forced a dead heat with Sparta
Master. Call
Again should have won the event outright, but had a dwell up on
the run in. Lockdale
Prince stayed on for third.
Double
Top was towed along for a couple of bends by Droopys
Majella in the S1, but swept past at the 3/4 and ran out an
impressive winner. There was no repeat of his recent dwelling in
this uncompetitive race. Be
Wise Lady just failed to grab second from the fading Droopys
Majella.
Fionntra
Dara broke modestly in the A3, but showed early pace and led
until the run in. Sangria
stayed on and despite easing at the 3rd bend, led on the run
in.
Swift
Maggie returned after a 6 month break in the A2. She is a
prolific scorer at the Stow and made all, despite easing a bit at
the 3rd bend. Synone
Rubin was an unlucky loser as he was forced to check at the 3rd
bend and only went down by half a length.
Droopys
Fabregas defeated a good field in an open here 10 days ago and
it was going to take a good performance by one of his rivals to stop
him in this A1. Miss
Modesty led off the second bend, but Droopys
Fabregas turned on the turbo and burnt her off on the run in. Stride
On Babe ran on well for second and is one to keep on the right
side of on the coming weeks.
The enigmatic Milwaukee
Tools produced a glimpse of what he's capable of at his best,
when making all to land the S2 finale. True
Frankie held every chance, but was outpaced from the 5th
bend.
