Tuesday's card feature the semis of the Graphite
(UK) puppy comp and some moderate graded stuff.
Keen
Promise led up in the opening A9, only to fade on the run in. Scorpio
Skippy was slow away, but the penny dropped late on and he hit
the front near the line. This was a particularly slow time.
The
second A9 was another weakly contested affair. Lijon
Fairy led and faded on the run in. Lycon
Ned turned more than handy and took an eternity to get to the
front. He finally consented to take it up at the 4th bend and he
went on to score.
In the A8, Onbir
Dan broke modestly and showed some EP to lead at the first. He
could not contain Wheres
Rosie, who had challenged until taking the running up at the
3/4.
The A7 saw Swift
Leon sent off at as a 7/4 favvy. Despite being eased in grade
here, he was never at the races. Rubette
ran middle and was bumped at the start, but still managed to force
her way to the front and make all. Journey
Star was slow away, bumped on the run up and kept on for second.
The
second A7 was one the funniest races to be seen at the Stow for a
very long time. Tea
Biscuit made the early running, only to fade from the 3/4. Aero
Vesuvio came to take up the running between the last two bends,
only to have a major dwell up. Droopys
Madam experienced the parting of the sea between the last two
turns, but decided to get involved with the shenanigans, with the
race at her mercy. Aero
Vesuvio exerted his authority in a unique way, when trying to
have the jacket off Droopys
Madam. He had Droopys
Madam's jacket in his mouth/muzzle from the 4th bend to a point
well after the line. Everyone at the track was laughing their heads
off and afterwards were lapping up the re-runs. The cameraman even
treated us to an extra re-run. This really brightened up a shocking
sequence of poor graded races. Make the most of Aero
Vesuvio. I doubt we'll see him in too many more races, but I
reckon he'll make the most lovely pet. What a character! (Johanna

The
second A7 saw Cutie
Pie grab the race near home from Mams
Cash, who had cut out the early running. Cutie
Pie led near the line.
There was a big upset In
the first semi final of the Graphite (UK) puppy comp. Roxholme
King was slow away, came off the rails and was smashed up at the
second bend. Droopys
Obafemi took some time to get into stride (again), was crowded
at the second bend before keeping on for second. July
Captain did well to qualify for the final in third. Meanwhile Headford
County crashed out of the traps and made all at a massive 20-1.
That was an extraordinary price. I hope connections availed their selves
of some of that!
Be
Wise Lady made all for an unlikely win in the S1. Double
Top was modestly away, showed some EP, but was brought to his
knees between the first two bends. Marked
Away plodded on for second. I'd be surprised if this 1-2 was too
competitive in subsequent S1's.
There
was a distinct lack of early in the A6 and Headleys
Cross just got to the front at the bend, Headleys
Cross went on for a comfortable victory. Armies
Mentor plugged to finish a long second.
In the
second A6, Versailles
hit the front, but could not contain Lode
Of Yank once he sung round handy. The rest were out with the
washing.
The game and genuine Pork
Pie added yet another victory to his tally. He made all and held
on from Reverse
Pace, who ran him to a short head. Reverse
Pace produced a real burst close to the line and his late lunge
just failed.
Snappy
Girl routed the field in the S2 finale. She broke very well and
handed an 8L beating to her nearest pursuer, Moynevilla
Robin.
