Bowlers
Bullet went off a short price in the P8, but she was
upstaged by her kennelmate Twilight
Fantasy. Twilight
Fantasy had been running middle/wide and getting done at the start
in here recent starts. She did it again, but this time had a slow
starter in Mix
Em Up along side her. She was a good winner in 29.18. Bowlers
Bullet was slow away and stayed on for second without ever
looking like quite getting on terms.
Granary
Smurf missed the break in the S3 and handed the race on a plate
to the well backed Jolly Time
Connection, in the S3 race. Time
Connection cracked out and made all for a comfortable success. Rumour
Has It kept on for second. The excellent Walthamstow commentator
Colin Hoyles bellowed out "If you've backed the favourite in
blue, get in the queue!"
Figile
Hot Shot led up in the A7 before losing the plot at half way. Fitzie
briefly hit the front, but looked extremely reluctant to stay there
for any length of time. He quickly faded to nothing. Fancy
Woods picked up the pieces after a slow start to lead at the 3rd
bend.
Gleaming
Carly, Matts
Idea and Solaire
broke level in the A6.Gleaming
Carly took the outright lead at the second bend, but Daphs
Star stayed on the better and took it up at the 3rd bend. Special
Eyes was slow away, eased at the first and third bend, but still
managed to grab second spot.
Clonbrin
Jo pinged the lids and led up in the A5, but his stamina gave
out and Wise
Digger swept by to win in a fair 29.06. Bobs
Express stayed on for second. Following last weeks decent
showing, Fall
In Line fell out of the boxes and had a major check up at the
first bend. I doubt he'll be winning for a while.
Loughteen
Laura broke well to lead the field in the A4. The well backed
favourite Josim
Darkie missed the up, but showed real determination and
fearlessly threw himself round the bend. Mystical
Sloth came at him off the last bend, but went down in a photo to
Josim
Darkie.
Coolanga
Flyer set a brisk early pace up front in the S1 and Big
Brett Coal had to dif deep to take the lead from him at the 5th
bend after a tardy start. Big
Brett Coal went on to win in a smart 39.80 and Coolanga
Flyer lost no caste in defeat. Coolanga
Flyer will not be long in winning. Mitzie's
run may have disappointed some, and she probably did not perform at
her absolute peak. However, I think she just met two rivals who
brought their A games to the table.
Adamant
Laser produced a devastating burst of early pace in the A3
race, but he just failed to sustain the gallop and was nailed on the
line. Tipsy
Tarquin had not won for ages, but grabbed the lead from his
hennel mate in the shadow of the post. Iona
Prince broke well but stumbled badly coming out of the second
bend. Milldean
Thunder did a pirouette at the start and that was the end of his
chances.
Fionntra
Dara produced a fast start and made all in the second A3. Droopys
Fabregas was probably closer to the pace than last week down the
back straight, but failed to pick up this time. Boy
Becca gave up the ghost after failing to lead up. True
Fowler kept on for second place.
Monte
Alban had been in top form coming into the A2 and continued in
that vein of form with a trap to line success. He did so in a very
decent 28.69, though the track was obviously running a bit fast. The
475 times seemed to be a bit disjointed from the 640 times. Sligo
Next kept on for a fairly distant second.
The
A1 looked like it was worth making the journey over to watch on it's
own. The veteran Clonbrin
Show had been in really good form. He reversed previous form
with Farloe Focus in the veterans event last week. Special
Deal had also been running very well, beating an in-form Ross
Fortune recently. Who
Needs Wings produced a top notch effort, beating Discreet Cat in
a fast 28.49 a fortnight ago. Who
Needs Wings missed the start badly and could never get in a
blow. Special
Deal didn't take the 3rd bend fluently and never looked like
getting on terms with the runaway winner Clonbrin
Show. Clonbrin
Show has been a grand servant to connections and was completing
his 18th win in 67 starts, 16 of them were opens.
Toosey
Tina made all to land the finale. It was a horrid excuse for a
greyhound race. Why do we have to have a shoddy stayers race for the
last race of the evening?
On this retired greyhound
gala charity night, there was a parade of an army of greyhounds that
have been homed by that lovely lady, Johanna Beumer and her hard
working team. It really was quite a spectacle.
The
Dunphy brothers and Gary Noble kindly donated pups to the charity
auction. Let's hope they sold for bundles and the purchasers get the
luck that their generosity deserves.
