Thursday's card featured some very average
graded races.
Cheeky
Johney broke averagely in the opening P9 and showed some nice
early pace. However, his steering let him down an he lost the plot
at a few bends. He led until the run in and was picked up by Aero
Vesuvio
Well
Presented led up in the H1, but he was jumping so high down the
back straight that the other quickly got on terms. The well backed
favvy Jos
Cigar showed some decent pace down the back straight to take it
up at the third bend. The 2006 springbok winner, Kaysers
Hill, was crowded at the first bend, but ran on well, only
losing out in a photo. Many thought he'd got up.
Daphs
Domino made the running in the S3 until the 5th bend, where Layhams
Lucky took over. Go
Figure was with the pace at this point, but faded and does not
seem to get this trip. Either this or she chucks it in when not
leading.
Droopys
Deano looked to lead on the draw in the A9, but seemed to
bottled it at the bend and caused all sorts of trouble. Millie
Moo swung round in front at the 2nd bend and pulled clear.
Courts
Ad Man led up in the A7, but faded after leading to the 3rd
bend. Kennoway
Archie took up the running and won the race in a modest time. Annes
Sammy showed some promise here. He missed the break, showed some
EP and some pace to the 3rd. He suffered a bit of trouble between
the first and last two bends. He will not be long in winning.
Google
Ruby beat a poor lot in the A6. London
Pride dwelt at the 2nd bend. Snap
jumped up at the traps and was poor after. Green
Jeanie faded from between the last two bends to elongate the
winning distance.
Im
Snoopy was beaten as a short priced favvy in the A5. Despite not
winning for ca 13 ups and checking at the bends on several occasions.
Droopys
Boss swooped to lead on the run in after a poor start.
Josim
Darkie put in one of the better performances of the night to
make all in the A4. Kingfisher
Daisy led to the first bend and kept on until fading near the
line. Rikishi
stayed on for third after a slow start.
Shes
So Bright led up in the S2 until Silbury
Squirrel took her measure on the back straight. Pigalle
Rainbow again flattered, showing some decent pace into the 5th
turn, before her effort petered out.
Chase
The Dream made all to land the A3. Milldean
Thunder was again slow away, showed some EP and got smashed up
between the first two bends.
Sophie
Rose bloomed in the A2. She cracked out of the boxes and made
all. Get
On Blackie made his final appearance, but unfortunately was
unable to win "his" race. He has been a credit to
connections, winning 18 of his 71 races.
Denwood
Star made the early running in the A1. However, he does not seem
to be too strong from the 3rd bend these days. The writing looked on
the wall down the back straight as Ross
Fortune turned close behind. Ross
Fortune took a long time to get past the leader, but finally
consented to pass on the run in.
The last contest,
an S2, looked there for the taking for Pennys
Britney. After a tardy start and some first bend crowding, the
short priced favvy looked beat. To her credit, she stuck to the task
well and still won comfortably enough, leading on the run in.
