St Patrick's day, party night at the Stow –

Walthamstow Report 17 Mar 2007

An ordinary graded card faced punters on the Saturday after the Cheltenham festival.

The opening A9 saw a smart break from True Moll who made the early running until her stamina gave way on the running. Dark Crystal was very slow away, but stayed on to catch her kennelmate near the line. Colliers Major eased at the first bend and was badly crowded. Berehaven Alice took an age to negotiate the first two bends.

The A9 saw The Gary Baggs kennel notch a double as Wee Fifer made all the running. The Seamus Cahill trained Millie Moo showed some promise on her debut. She is by Lady Be Wise, who was only an A5 Wimbledon grader herself, but she has thrown some decent dogs, e.g. Who Needs Wings, Impartial View and King Forever.

Killeen Tom made it three from three for the Baggs kennel as the veteran made all the running to land the H2. Blue Meadow Lad was very slow away and ran into trouble at the third bend as he stayed on. He was only ever going to make second at best as the winner had flown.

The poor S4 went to Pigalle Rainbow. Time Connection made the running, but faded from near the fifth. Sheer Genius was checking at all available bends in behind.

Zoot broke modestly and showed some fair early boot and made all to land the A7. Droopys Jimmy swung in behind off the 2nd bend and the race looked all over, but he took an eternity to make a challenge then looked to duck out at the pick up a circuit too early.

True Kewell broke smartly and towed his kennel mate Bellchips Nicole along till the 3/4 mark before his stamina gave out. Bellchips Nicole was a fourth winner for Mr Baggs. (Droopys Jimmy should have meant it was his fifth) Mystical Star challenged and was clumsy at the 3rd, then dwelt and got KO'd between the last two bends.

Fear Oliver broke modestly but still managed to lead at the first bend in the A4. Lockdale Prince lacked EP, but came home best of all to lead on the run in. He was well supported from 7/2 to 2/1 favvy here. I do not think that Fear Oliver is too genuine.

Roswell Bluesky made all to land the S1. Silbury Ruby held every chance, but did not seem too keen to put in a challenge. Oscars Market fell out of the traps and that put paid to his chances. The winner recorded a fair 39.91

Special Roxi won a moderate A3as she just led up and kept on well to fend off the others. Small Bites held every chance, but seemed happy enough with a place.

Denwood Star finally hit the back of the net in the A3 after a couple of near misses. He led off the second bend and unsurprisingly Old Jamaikey happily settled for second.

The S1 resulted in a dead heat. They love a dead heat at the Stow! Owtoftowna made the running and was joined on the line by Westmead Mary who probably should have won from her position down the back straight.

Mighty Fella broke well in the A2 and looked to have stolen the race. However the distress signals came out on the run in and Shelbourne Ryan done him in the shadow of the post. Mystical Chief was hammered at the 2nd bend and ran well for third. Curlew Red checked up at the 3rd.

The A1 was taken by Bell Classic who got the better of a tussle with War Of Attrition. Neither Get On Blackie or Discreet Cat looked too sound in behind.

The last race (S2) saw the 7th outright favourite of the night send the punters home happy. Milwaukee Tools hit the front, but didn't fancy it tonight. Drominboy Iseki ran on to lead at the 5th bend for a comfortable victory.
