Video blackout –
Walthamstow
Report 08 Mar 2007
A fair Thursday open card.
There was a no-show from Vincent video tonight. This was the
first time this has occurred in my 20+ years at the track. (This is
amazing, given that I'm only 21)
I was again late on parade. Tanner
Butler won the A2 in a photo. I backed him last week, but unsurprisingly
not tonight.
There was a few leaders in the Div 2 hurdles event. Gantara
made the early running, Ginger
Ninja led/challenged at the 3rd and Stoney
Lad led on the run in.
The Div 1 hurdles event saw a brilliant turn of early speed from
the Seamus Cahill trained Snazzy
Time. He hit the first hurdle, but was going so fast that he
shrugged it off and comfortably made all at a generous 2-1. Blackmagic
Jamie showed some pace down the back straight, but threw the
towel in.
Placid
Jill broke very well and made all in the Div 1 novice stayers. Classy
Star was impeded at the first and stayed on pretty well for 2nd.
True
Fowler led up in the maiden, but could not hold Killough
Air, who stayed on quite well. Not
So Jolly held every chance and kept on ok.
The novice marathon was very much won for the punters, as the
well backed Jangos
Snowdrop was a very comfortable winner. Centaur
Iris hit the front at the 5th, but did not see which way Jangos
Snowdrop went.
Lockdale
Lady performed brilliantly when last seen at the Stow and continued
her steady improvement when making all in the Div 2 standard. Clodiagh
Woods ran really well in defeat. Dark
Thunder stayed on for third.
Genesis
Alix brought home the bacon for me tonight in the Div 2 marathon
as Silbury
Ruby repeated her antics of last week, after turning more than
handy. Astute
Star hit the front at the 7th and refused and let Genesis
Alix back in.
The performance of the night came from Lenson
Express who smashed out and made all. Directors
Chair also ran well in defeat. A few in the bar questioned his
resolution, but I did not think he did anything wrong.
Spankee
Moved broke very well and made most of the running in the Div 1
marathon. She would almost certainly have held on but for having a
hard race in the swamp at Harlow on Sunday. Blackmagic
Maisy looked to be making a winning run up to the 7th, but had
another ease up. Confident
Foe was very slow away, but stayed on to lead on the run in.
Smooth
Darika banged out and made all the running in the March stayers.
Glanmore
Wonder held every chance in second and went down by a length and
a quarter.
Special
Deal won the A1 impressively in the fastest time of the night.
He's a really nice dog on his day. Special
Deal. is another from the Gary Noble conveyor belt. He is bred
from Matriarch, who was also owned by Gary. (http://dogolphin.tripod.com/)
War
Of Attrition stayed on well for 2nd.
The bookies thought they had the favvy beat in the Div 2 novice
stayers form most of the race as Clonbony
Jubub made virtually all the running. However, Cassie
came from out of the clouds to lead in the shadow of the post to
send favourite backers home happy. One of my mates had an even two
grand on her in the get out of trouble stakes. Lucky bastard!
I'm off on holiday to York for a week on Saturday, so the reports
may be absent/short/or late by video.
