Hurry
up Arry, come on! –
Walthamstow
Report 10 Feb 2007
Saturday punters and six packers
had an ordinary graded card to mull over. This meeting marked the
departure of Ernie Gaskin.
The opening P9 went the way of the
layers as Aero
Zeppelin produced a modest break and could never get on terms with
the pacesetter. Redec
King had time to use the full width of the track at the bends as
he made all.
The unreliable Milwaukee
Tools put in another stinker in the S2. He was never in the hunt
and was a well beaten 5/4 favourite. Placid
Jill produced a smart break and made all.
Drominboy
Iseki produced a modest break, showed some early pace, but could
never get on terms.
Millwards
Angel broke well and made all in the five runner P8.
Millwards
Angel was well backed and stepped up markedly on his previous
efforts. The favvy Ank
Marvin was too busy strumming his guitar out back.
The A7 was won by the Paul Garland
trained Mystical
Star.
He
is anything but a wide runner, but faced little opposition in the
early paced department as he headed towards the rails on the run up.
The Seamus Cahill trained Zoot
showed a fair amount of promise on his debut and will be one to be
on next time. He is from a good bloodline, his granny is First To
Return, who has thrown tons of open racers.
Centaur
Iris made an impressive debut over six bends when winning the
second S2. She showed some fair early pace and pulled out more as Silky
Rose threatened to challenge.
Arry
Olt (Lens
Returns brother) has been showing signs of coming to hand and
impressed in taking the P6. He broke well and took a middle course
and made all. I would think he can win a few more races yet and is
one to keep on the right side.
Elusive
For Sure was another for favourite backers as she made all in the A5.
She has been showing steady improvement in her races and must be a
nice bitch to own. She will face some tougher tasks from now on
though.
The marathon (Ernie Gaskin farewell
stakes) contained a right motley crew. Unlikely
Hotshow made the running before her stamina gave way from the 7th
bend. The short priced favvy Glengar
Royal eased at the 3rd bend, but still had too many
guns for her rivals as she took up the running at the 5th
bend for a comfortable win.
Daisyfield
Bella bolted out in the A4, only to cramp again after holding a
decent lead. In a desperate finish Courts
Ad Deb won the photo from Small
Bites and Elusive
Honcho.
The A3 was marred by a pile up at
the first bend. Reachfar
Gifted was left clear, but only won by a length and a quarter from Salems
Rhys who was crowded at the 2nd and stayed on.
The well backed favourite Fear
Martina disappointed in the S1, where one of the outsiders Bernard
broke well and made all.
The A2 was won in trap to line
fashion where Optimistic
Henry broke well and made all. The Carling Futurity winner Ardagh
Mike again eased at the 3rd bend, but kept on for
second. Mighty
Fella was another easer.
Another QA al led in the A1, as Perceptive
Pacey again showed he can win fair races over 475m as well as
430m. Lockdale
Lady was hammered at the 3rd bend.
The finale resulted in another for the Mick Puzey
kennel as Westmead
Mary kept on and led near
the line. Droopys
ckeckburn lead up for three
bends before again checking at the 5th bend. Be
Wise Lady hit the front at the
4th bend before fading on the run in.
