Walthamstow Report
09 Jan 2007
A very grim meeting opened with an A9 contest.
John Coleman’s Nikray
Thunder stepped up significantly on his poor debut effort as an
unconsidered 10-1 shot. Linwood Raven kept on for second, keeping on
the straight and narrow this week following last weeks
“friendly” encouter.
The P9 was marred by the horrible incident of
Mix Em Up breaking down on his debut. After a poor
break, he showed some nice pace to the 3rd only to come
to a halt between the last two turns after taking the running up. Townhill
Blues capitalised and led on the run in.
The Springbok hopeful Blackmagic Jamie
stepped up significantly on his debut to rout his field in the H1.
Breaking much better than on his debut, he was soon in command.
The A8 looked to be going the way of Matomi
Sparkle who after breaking smartly, he lost his steering
on the last bend and gave way to the staying on Headleys Cross.
The
second thrilling A8 went the way of the well supported Bonus
Louis who after breaking moderately, showed some back straight
pace and led on the run in. True Kewell again led up only and
faded again on the run in.
Bell Sensational stepped up markedly on his previous attempts when
making all to land his first success from seventeen starts in the
A7. Silbury Squirrel plodded on for a rather remote second.
The
“long awaited” S3 was won in quick-step fashion by the Peter
Rich trained Watch It Tango. Competing previously at A3 level
at Hove, she comfortably put away a shoddy bunch of horrid
Walthamstow graders. Quick Appeal regressed about two seconds
on her previous run.
Only
seven races gone and we we are up to the heady heights of an A7
contest. zzzzz
Treacle Bell and Fionntra Lucy showed the early foot, but both
capitulated to leave Mams Cash picking up the pieces.
The A6 was landed by Centaur Iris. She broke well, but was impeded in a
collision with Patricks Flyer,
who took a nasty tumble on the run up. She lost the plot off
the second turn and came home from an unpromising position to get up
close home.
With
the absence of Mary Tina in trap two, Knockane Picotee
was always going to play a big part. Sent off a 3-1 3rd
favourite, he managed to clear at the first and ran away from his
field to land an impressive success.
Rockchase James had five runners to navigate this week in the A5
and his lack of early saw him out with the washing from an early
stage. He showed some pace to the 3rd but did not
progress as many had hoped. The Kelly Mullins trained Retribution
was the benefactor as he passed Cagey Dougie close home.
Iona Prince won the battle for early supremacy with Mystical Bunny and
made all in the A3 to land a gutsy success. Mystical Bunny kept
on pretty well for second, following his troubled run to the first
turn.
The
lucky last was won by Irate Kate to land yet another NB for
the Naps champ Tony Bullen.
Paxton Prince cut
out the early running, but could not sustain the gallop and faded
between the last two turns.
