Walthamstow Report 02 Jan 2007

Missed the first, I believe the favvy won Ank Marvin making all.

The Gary Baggs trained True Kewell skipped away from the filed on the A8, but folded up like a pack of cards, leaving Warping Time to pick up the pieces.

In the hurdles event, the Sprinbok candidate Blackmajic Maisy made heavy weather of an appalling hurdles race. After a tardy exit, his early pace got him to front, but he looked a mile away from a competition prospect on his hurdles race debut, unimpressively beating the high jumping Windgap Henry.

Fear Oliver made an impressive winning debut, trapping well and taking a middle course, before destroying his A7 rivals. Ceroc Gypsy fluffed his lines big time, when trailing home behind Pennys Britney. Paul Garlands dog found a chunk on his Stow efforts to date, Despite not winning at the stow in three P6 attempts, his Newbridge races equated to A4, so he may have another win in him yet.

Falcon Flight disappointed a Racing Post journalist, but one or two new what to expect from him. The OI OI’s from a top W’stow judge (a loud one!) and the somewhat unpleasent chants “EASE, EASE” marked the S4.

Cheeky Star was firmly crossed off my Christmas list when nailing my attempted touch on Conran Tommy. L Conran Tommy bolted clear, but weakened when running wide at the final turn and Cheeky Star came from a mile back to nail him close home. I was sick to the pit of my stomach.

Elusive Honcho won a moderate A5, before Fear Miss Kelly found a very surprising break to make all in the next A5.

Lady Asher led off the 2nd after a moderate break to win the first A3.

Tinky Rolls was slow away, but still managed to win a poor A3 race.

Clonbrin Show put in the performance of the evening, when running away from his field in the A1.

Monte Alban hit the front and again failed to last home in the concluding S2. An employee of a certain Gibraltar based firm came up smelling of roses after finding Trusted in the last and countless winning spread bets in the afternoon.

Ones to Note

Conran Tommy (Will go through the grades)

Fear Oliver (Should win another couple before the grader catches up with him)

Pennys Britney (Improved effort and Irish form says he can win in the next grade)

Ones to avoid
