Walthamstow Report 30 Dec 2006

The meeting opened with a race thrown away by Son Of Iris, who dwelt from the last bend, repeating his run on 21 Dec. Figile Hot Shot led all the way and held on by half a length. In the hurdles H1, Highbury Tiger showed blistering early before his stamina gave way and the poor jumper Flying Frank came through to lead on the run in. A very poor excuse for a race followed where Calzaghe Shearer won a very scrappy race, leading at the last bend. The bizarrely named Yak Yak Lampard cut out the running in the  P8, before capitulating on the run in. The race was won by Droopys Jackay who stayed on after a poor start to lead on the run in. One to keep an eye on in the coming weeks is Droopys Jimmy, who is bred by Droopys Minx, the Dam of Droopys Aoife. A quiet introduction here, he’s a lovely scopey sort, and he’ll pay to follow in the coming weeks. A few poor races followed, where Patricks Flyer won the A7, who was A2/S3 Romford was let in, in an A7 at the Stow. Similarly Zoltan Champ won the following A6 and was formerly A1/S1 at Romford. RM asleep during grading of these dogs? The lay of the night Sofem, ran another shocker and Ballymartin Jack stayed on to lead between the last two bends. The second dweller of the evening appeared in the A5, Old Jamaikey, who ducked out with the race at his mercy. Hoylake Claire got a lucky run and led on the run in. Sparta Master landed an uneventful A4, before the strongly fancied Lockdale Lady won the A3 with consumate ease, following the slow starts from Localimprovement and Courts Ad Bluey inside him. Fear Martina comfortably won the S1. Several lame dogs appeared in the A2 and the race was won by Questhouse Sash. Africa won the five runner A1, I’m told at odds the massive odds of 8-1on the machine (3-1 sp), where a number of his rivals performed poorly. The lucky last featured yet another appalling 6 bend lottery, where Craigdales Ruby who faded from the 5th bend, beat a field of poor stayers.
