8.10 Windsor – Totexcata Handicap (class 4) (3yo+ 0-80) 1M 2F 7Y Soft / Heavy

1 – Red Somerset – now with trainer Ron Hodges and likely to end up over hurdles later this summer or early autumn and has some solid claims today in what looks the easiest task for quite sometime for this gelding by Red Ransom. Unknown around this track that is sharp but good for gallopers still with a long straight and it should suit this horse based on form. The ground is all important and he has been given a tough ask of top weight for the conditions but if he was to bounce back to the ability that he is known to have he would have a better chance then the odds suggest given past efforts on this type of surface.

My Tissue Price – 7/1

2 – General Knowledge – Non-Runner

3 – Transvestite – A tricky ride (pardon the pun) in which he often finds a couple to good for him but runs identical races. Finished a good a good 5th in a big field race here last season in which the time was good for the conditions and based on that would be very hard to beat in this easier class race. That was over 12F, which would consider his ideal trip so the 10F even though effective over may let something else into beating him. Goes well this time of year and the sire of this horse have a good record on this type of ground with his off springs.

My Tissue Price- 4/1

4 – Mull of Dubai – Goes very well for john Egan and a winner over 12F here on soft ground so has to have claims just for that reason. Weighted past his best form I feel he does often run very consistent races and with the testing conditions may just get away with this shorter trip as he did rapidly improve for further last season. Yard not having same impact as last year but still respected around here and he is certain to show his presence based on York form.

My Tissue Price – 7/1

8 – Russian Epic – Dropped in class after a good effort at Sandown on good to soft ground and won’t mind it a little softer then that day having hacked up in his maiden on soft ground. Likely to improve for the step up in trip, Michael Jarvis 3yo are always worth following as it’s a age group he does so well with and there is more to come from this horse today, but is very likely to be a short price to do so as the field becomes depleted with non runners.

My Tissue Price – 3/1

9 – Petito – Likely to struggle after a long lay off on these conditions and expected to get tired when asked for maximum effort. Given hard tasks in maidens here and at Leicester and now ready for handicapping it could be that the handicapper has taken no chances here with the likes of Sixties Icon being in those maidens. Today will tell us a lot even though better ground will tell us more in time.

My Tissue Price – 33/1

10 – Mutual Friend – Won on handicap debut and then went close next time out at Brighton in a poor race. Poor effort latest in which he pulled hard in and if not settling this time he will struggle to get home over this trip on this ground today. Conditions have to be a major concern today but many horses who win on extremely Firm ground seem to go well on testing ground as well as long as it isn’t overly tacky and he may just get away with it today.

My Tissue Price – 10/1

11 – Beverley Hill Billy – Lightly raced and first try over the 10 furlongs tonight for National Hunt trainer Alan King who does well with his limited flat runners. The trip you would imagine wouldn’t be a problem with the horse expected to go over further with in time and Richard Hughes is always a popular booking for National Hunt trainers so it’s a positive to see him on board tonight. Sharp turns are no problems based on Lingfield running but good to firm ground would have been more ideal on his first try over this longer distance.

My Tissue Price – 9/1

12 – Nordic Affair – David Elsworth is a very shrewd customer so the fact this horse is trying once again a trip in which he has failed at twice before isn’t to be discounted on those basis, the quick ground may have had something to do with it as testing ground looks likely to see him at his best. Breed for trips such as these and with a eye catching run over 7F behind Royal Ascot winner Boscobel at Lingfield there is every reason to believe this horse will cope well at this track tonight.

My Tissue Price – 6/1

Verdict – Trappy handicap because of the conditions but under 8 stone 12lbs Nordic Affair looks a massive price in this handicap today at around a general 12-1 with the bookmakers. Russian Epic on connections has to be fear but 2-1 on a 3yo carrying more then 9 stone against older rivals isn’t always worth taking a short price on, even though I wouldn’t lay it. Red Somerset has to be the other horse to take a chance on at 20-1 as he looks to have a lot more going for him at long last

Selection Nordic Affair 1pt @ 12-1 & Red Somerset 1pt @ 16-1
