Euro
Qualifier 2008 - 17 Oct 2007
Liechtenstein v
Iceland. Wednesday 19:00.
Sticking with the whipping boys theme, I'm siding with brave
Liechtenstein to inflict more misery on Iceland.
The layers seem to think there's a gulf in class between these
two sides, but is there really? Only four points separate them in
the Group F standings. Iceland come into the game, having been
mauled 4-2 by Latvia in Reykjavik. The same Latvia side that
Liechtenstein defeated back in March.
I don't profess to knowing a great deal about these two sides,
but I do know that an Asian handicap line of +1 is a nonsense, given
how badly Iceland have performed these last couple of years. Porous
in defence, lethargic in midfield, if not for the goals of Eidur
Gudjohnson there would be precious little between these sides, as
Liechtenstein's deserved 1-1 draw in Reykjavik in June would
suggest.
With money back for a one-goal defeat, Liechtenstein look a
must-bet on the Asian handicap.
Recommendation: 4pts Liechtenstein
+1 @ 1.88. Stan James.
